In the standout Widow’s Bay episode “Beach Reads”, Patricia is at an all-time social low, feeling isolated and rejected by the townspeople. While cleaning out her bookmobile, the “Pattiwagon,” she discovers a discarded 1950s etiquette and self-help book titled Your Turn: Out with the Old and In with the You. Desperate to reinvent herself and desperate for the town’s approval, she hooks onto the book’s core premise: “All it takes is one great party to change your life.”

Inspired by its instructions, Patricia takes over the municipal sunset cocktail event, obsessively planning every detail. Though the party initially starts as a total failure, things suddenly take an eerie turn when she serves a special “punch” recipe from the text. Guests suddenly flood in, dancing wildly and showering her with attention, making Patricia believe she has finally achieved her dream of popularity. 

However, the night takes a pitch-black turn when Sheriff Bechir arrives to investigate. In reality, the partygoers are trapped in a terrifying, supernatural trance. The book is actually a disguised, satanic book of shadows, similar to a Necronomicon, penned by “Lucy Fours” (Lucifer). What Patricia perceived as a beautiful party dress and tiara is revealed in a mirror to be sacrificial witch garb. Her innocent-looking punch is brewed from animal blood, and her heartfelt celebratory toast is a hypnotic spell that forces the entire town to march blindly into the ocean to drown themselves. Ultimately, the book serves as a dark metaphor for how dangerous the toxic pursuit of social validation can be when it preys upon deep-seated loneliness.
